Introduction to hiking and bivouacking

If you’re dreaming of your first experience of hiking and bivouacking in the Ardennes, but are a little apprehensive about going it alone, then this weekend is for you!
What makes this hiking and bivouacking trip unique?
During two days, discover the magic of the Ourthe Valley, in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes. Two easy walks, suitable for everyone, will allow you to immerse yourself in the essence of the wilderness, whilst learning the basics to become self-sufficient on your future adventures.
Travelling light: Don’t feel like carrying everything? Your luggage will be transported directly to the bivouac area. But if, like us, you enjoy the challenge and pleasure of carrying your own equipment, it’s perfectly possible!

A comfortable bivouac: The night is spent on private land where a heated lavvu (tepee) awaits you for a warm and friendly evening. A great way to relax before heading back to your tents for the night.
What you’ll learn:
Optimising your equipment: Briefing and adjusting your rucksacks before setting off to ensure they’re carried as comfortably as possible.
Camping techniques: Pitching tents, choosing essential equipment and tips for self-sufficiency.
Gentle survival and nature: Enjoy an evening bushcraft session or a night-time hike to enrich your experience.
Weekend programme:
Day 1: A 17 km hike through the forests and countryside of the Ourthe Valley and the woods of Champlon, finishing at the bivouac area.
Evening: Relaxation in the heated lavvu, advice and discussions, a bushcraft evening on ‘How to light a fire’ or a night-time walk.
Overnight: Bivouac in tents on private land.

Day 2: A 13 km return hike, punctuated by some final tips for your future adventures.
