Summary
Clock
The construction of the town clock was financed in October 1560 by the auction of several gardens. On 17 February 1704, a violent fire destroyed all the houses on the market, Épaisse rue and Chanteraine. The clock in the town hall was moved to the castle, where it worked until 1900, when it was abandoned in the ruins.
During excavations in 1996, the Association pour la Sauvegarde du Patrimoine Historique de La Roche preserved what remained of the mechanism. After meticulous restoration, the working clock was returned to the castle.
In order to protect it from the corrosion that threatened it, it is now installed in the church of Saint-Nicolas of La Roche, rue Trou-Bourbon 2-12.
