Summary

The Belgian Ardennes is one of the most beautiful regions in the country. It is characterised by an omnipresent and diverse natural environment, with a huge number of outdoor activities available. A multitude of waterways cross this beautiful region to join the Ourthe, and there are plenty of opportunities for fishing. The La Roche-en-Ardenne fishing club was created with this in mind, as well as a desire to promote this wonderful activity… Although classified as a salmon river, the Ourthe between Nisramont and Jupille has a mixed population of trout and grayling, whitewater cyprins (bleak, barbel, chub, hotus, vandoise) and slow-water cyprins in the calmer areas (roach, rotengles). Eels, pikes, perch, minnows, sculpins and loaches complete the fish population of the Ourthe. All fishing techniques can be used, but given the configuration of the site, it is mainly itinerant techniques that are favoured. Permits for the Ourthe: Walloon regional permit only required. Permit for streams: Combined Ruisseau du Bronze – Ruisseau des Longs Prés – Ruisseau de Halleux: 25€/year. Special provisions: catch size for trout: 24 cm – hooks smaller than no. 5 prohibited – On the Ourthe: wading authorised for fly fishers only and from the general opening (1st Saturday of June).
